Young Jim Hawkins (Bobby Driscoll) posseses a map of Treasure Island, and sets sail with a ship full of gold-seekers. However, Long John Silver (Robert Newton), a greedy crewman, quickly masterminds a mutiny, then gathers a ragged band of pirates to resume the treasure hunt. . .with young Hawkins as their unwilling and terrified hostage.
